Safe Church Policy
Christ Church is a ‘safe church!’ As we nurture a safe and loving environment for our children and youth, all volunteers who work within the Nursery, Church School, Children/Youth Choirs and the Youth Program are required to complete a series of background checks to ensure the safety of everyone. Copies of the Safe Church Policy are available at the Church Office.
Nursery care is provided at both services. Little ones ages newborn through age 5 will be lovingly cared for by our adult volunteers. The worship service is broadcast through the sound system provided should you prefer to stay with your child. Our nursery is located on the second floor of the education wing.
Ages 4 and 5
Preschoolers join the older children at the beginning of Church School in the Gathering Space on the second floor of the Education wing for songs before returning to their brightly decorated room for activities, art, and storytelling.
Children grades 1 through 5 take part in the Workshop Rotation Model (WoRM) of Church School. WoRM enables kids to hear and understand Bible stories and lessons by rotating through a different workshop each week; there thelesson is presented in a new and different way. The workshops at Christ Church are Stories and Games, Art, Video, Science, and Cooking. Each room is decorated in a special theme where children can watch movies in the Theatre Room equipped with a popcorn maker, hear stories and play games in the Tent Room, or conduct scientific experiments in the Science Lab. All workshops enhance the current unit lesson and present it in a unique, fun, and memorable way.
Middle schoolers rotate through workshops as well, however, teachers have adapted the stories and lessons to the level and interests of preteens.
Confirmation classes begin when students enter 7th grade, and their journey towards being confirmed continues until the end of 8th grade. Meeting with the Pastors and their mentors, Confirmation, a "Ministry of Presence," prepares young people for the joys and challenges of discipleship as members of the Christian Church.
"The Calm in the Storm", the name Senior High students have given their special space, is where this group explores topics and current events related to today's teenagers and the issues they face. The culmination of each years' discussion and study results in a Youth Sunday event which highlights contemporary issues young people encounter in a worship service written and led by the Senior High class.
Messy Church is a unique family worship experience. Held on a Friday evening and including a light meal, Messy Church explores different Bible stories through crafts, games, and an intergenerational, hands on approach to Faith Formation.
