Holiday cookie bakers and buyers are needed for our Sixth Annual Cookie Walk at Christ Church.
New this year: We are taking Pre-Orders ONLY. There will be no walk-ins. This allows us to plan better for the number of cookies to make. There will be 40 cookies in a box with only 70 boxes (including plates) being sold. (As of this article being written in October, 20 boxes have already been sold!) There may be a limited number available for purchase on Sunday after the Cookie Walk, depending on how pre-orders go.
It's a great way to stock up on a terrific assortment of homemade holiday cookies for entertaining and gift giving. For those who just want a taste, you can purchase a sample plate for $10. (Plates will have 10 cookies.) Boxes are $20 for 40 cookies. All monies go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Research Center. (Checks should be made out accordingly.)
Amy Addams is taking box pre-orders. Boxes will be filled for you before the doors open on Saturday, December 8, and you can pick up between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm that day.
If you are able to bake cookies, we are looking for 20 different kinds of home-made cookies from Christ Church congregation. Each baker is being asked to make 6 dozen of one kind of cookie. Of course, you are welcome to make more than one kind of cookie, but - for box counts - we need 6 dozen of each kind of cookie. (Amy is securing additional bakers outside of our church for the other 20 kinds of cookies.)
Thank you for “Giving hope one cookie at a time to those with blood and pancreatic cancers!"

Aromatherapy, Tapping, and perhaps a bit of healing touch are just some of the ways Jackie will facilitate an evening where all is calm, and all is bright!
This event is free.

Pianist Jim Hendricks grabbed the attention of musicians and family members as a young child with the uncanny ability to play anything he heard on records and memorize any printed music that came across the piano. While still in grammar school, Jim was able to transcribe by ear complex harmonies and melodies – without the use of a piano. He continued intensive musical studies and was considered a professional as a teenager.
After high school, Jim performed with such legends as Dave Brubeck (piano duets), Della Reese, Rita Moreno, Tito Puente, Maynard Ferguson, Jack Jones, Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Arturo Sandoval, John Davidson, Jon Faddis, and many others. He also competed in numerous international piano competitions, was a featured orchestral soloist performing the piano music of Rachmaninoff, and was granted a music professorship by the age of twenty-five.
While he was on tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra (the band still continues its concert tours since Miller’s death in the War), Jim felt a very strong call from the Lord to use his musical gifts for the glory of God. Already being a dedicated Christian for many years, he knew it was time to follow his calling into Christian ministry.
Live in Concert – Budapest
Since then, Jim has performed more than 1,300 Christian piano concerts in churches all across the land, including several appearances at the former Crystal Cathedral. He has made fourteen piano recordings, performed on ABC, CBS, TBN and PAX, authored the book Contemporary Arrangements for Today’s Church Pianist, and been featured in Clavier piano journal. The Lord has greatly blessed his decision to bring glory to Christ through music.
Registration open late June. Details to follow for our 3rd Annual VBS for the ladies of Christ Church UCC and Maytown Reformed UCC.
