Sponsored by LiFT (Ladies in Fellowship Together) an evening of relaxation to bring heavenly peace in preparation for the hectic holiday season. Before we fret over the crowds, lack of parking spots, hustle and bustle of cooking and wrapping - Jackie Page is coming to the rescue with her tool box packed full of goodies to help us all! Aromatherapy, Tapping, and perhaps a bit of healing touch are just some of the ways Jackie will facilitate an evening where all is calm, and all is bright!
This event is free.
The Elizabethtown Holiday Parade along Market St. is quickly approaching! Christ Church, as part of its outreach to the community, offers chilly parade goers hot cocoa outside of Christ Church! If you are able to be a part of the “Cocoa Committee” - we’d love you to sign up! Just hit the button above to register!
Holiday cookie bakers and buyers are needed for our Sixth Annual Cookie Walk at Christ Church.
New this year: We are taking Pre-Orders ONLY. There will be no walk-ins. This allows us to plan better for the number of cookies to make. There will be 40 cookies in a box with only 70 boxes (including plates) being sold. (As of this article being written in October, 20 boxes have already been sold!) There may be a limited number available for purchase on Sunday after the Cookie Walk, depending on how pre-orders go.
It's a great way to stock up on a terrific assortment of homemade holiday cookies for entertaining and gift giving. For those who just want a taste, you can purchase a sample plate for $10. (Plates will have 10 cookies.) Boxes are $20 for 40 cookies. All monies go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Research Center. (Checks should be made out accordingly.)
Amy Addams is taking box pre-orders. Boxes will be filled for you before the doors open on Saturday, December 8, and you can pick up between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm that day.
If you are able to bake cookies, we are looking for 20 different kinds of home-made cookies from Christ Church congregation. Each baker is being asked to make 6 dozen of one kind of cookie. Of course, you are welcome to make more than one kind of cookie, but - for box counts - we need 6 dozen of each kind of cookie. (Amy is securing additional bakers outside of our church for the other 20 kinds of cookies.)
Thank you for “Giving hope one cookie at a time to those with blood and pancreatic cancers!"
Our friend, Denise Clissold, has invited all ladies from LiFT to her home for coffee and dessert! A great opportunity for those looking for a casual evening out! See your directory or contact the church office for Denise’s address.
Beginning with an outdoor family movie night where the community is invited on Friday, Sept. 7th, the weekend continues with our Legacy of Faith Festival all day Saturday. Craft vendors, food trucks, live music, and fun events for kids start at 8 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
At 6:00 p.m. we will enjoy a banquet dinner under the tent with presentations, special guest speakers, and a concert by the Lancaster Brass Quintet. Tickets are $20.00
Spirit Sunday is September 9th where we return to our two worship service schedule and Faith Formation classes begin.
Pianist Jim Hendricks grabbed the attention of musicians and family members as a young child with the uncanny ability to play anything he heard on records and memorize any printed music that came across the piano. While still in grammar school, Jim was able to transcribe by ear complex harmonies and melodies – without the use of a piano. He continued intensive musical studies and was considered a professional as a teenager.
After high school, Jim performed with such legends as Dave Brubeck (piano duets), Della Reese, Rita Moreno, Tito Puente, Maynard Ferguson, Jack Jones, Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Arturo Sandoval, John Davidson, Jon Faddis, and many others. He also competed in numerous international piano competitions, was a featured orchestral soloist performing the piano music of Rachmaninoff, and was granted a music professorship by the age of twenty-five.
While he was on tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra (the band still continues its concert tours since Miller’s death in the War), Jim felt a very strong call from the Lord to use his musical gifts for the glory of God. Already being a dedicated Christian for many years, he knew it was time to follow his calling into Christian ministry.
Live in Concert – Budapest
Since then, Jim has performed more than 1,300 Christian piano concerts in churches all across the land, including several appearances at the former Crystal Cathedral. He has made fourteen piano recordings, performed on ABC, CBS, TBN and PAX, authored the book Contemporary Arrangements for Today’s Church Pianist, and been featured in Clavier piano journal. The Lord has greatly blessed his decision to bring glory to Christ through music.
Registration open late June. Details to follow for our 3rd Annual VBS for the ladies of Christ Church UCC and Maytown Reformed UCC.
Rock, funk, punk - Sweet Ember brings their energetic vocals and music to Christ Church as part of our 2018 Summer Concert Series. This free concert will take place outdoors. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase food from Hoss's Sea and Steak, who will be on hand throughout the concert.
Gather around the fire for S'mores, fun, and fireworks! Sign up on the Events Board for a great family evening!
